In her 2023-2024 season, she has worked again with Sydney Chamber Opera, and performed Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro with State Opera South Australia.

Highlights of Ms. Edmonds' 2023-2024 season included performances of Saariaho’s Quatre Instants, and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. 2024-2025 sees Ms. Edmonds collaborating on new works with colleagues in Germany, Australia, and the UK.

Ms. Edmonds joins esteemed instrumental colleagues, to perform a series of concerts in the 2024 Alderney Chamber Music Festival, featuring chamber works by Debussy and Chausson.

LE NOZZE DI FIGARO

Ms. Edmonds returned to the role of Cherubino for a new production of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at State Opera South Australia, directed by Nicholas Cannon and conducted by Tobias Ringborg.

Ms. Edmonds performed a staged version of Kaija Saariaho’s Quatre Instants in this triple bill of 20th and 21st century works for solo voice. Ms. Edmonds also worked as assistant director on this piece and La voix humaine, as part of this project.

Ms. Edmonds appeared in this Australian premiere of Benjamin Britten and Luke Styles' Awakening Shadow / Canticles. The work examined Benjamin Britten’s crisis of faith, through the singing body. Ms. Edmonds also worked as assistant director on this production.

Ms. Edmonds (mezzo-soprano) and Jack Symonds (piano) appeared in recital, performing works by Saariaho, Symonds, and Barber. This recital project was recorded and released by Phoenix Central Park.

L'ENFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES
L'enfant

London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vopera
Virtual Production

Ms. Edmonds reprised the role of L'enfant for this virtual production of L'enfant et les sortilèges, presented by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vopera. This innovative production won the Opera award at the South Bank Sky Arts awards in 2021.

After performing this acclaimed new work in the US with Opera Philadelphia in 2019, Ms. Edmonds gave the UK premiere and subsequently toured this production of Philip Venables & Ted Huffman's Denis & Katya.

Ms Edmonds joined an international cast to perform the role of Dorabella in Classical Opera Company's performances of Mozart's masterpiece, Così fan tutte.

Ms. Edmonds collaborated again with composer Philip Venables and director Ted Huffman - the duo behind the award-winning 4:48 Psychosis. This multimedia production for two voices and four cellos used verbatim text to examine the vast public response to real-life events, what that reveals about our society, and what it means to make an opera out of it. Ms. Edmonds made her Opera Philadelphia debut with this production.

L'ENFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES

Ms. Edmonds made her debut at Komische Oper Berlin, and played the title role of L'enfant in this imaginative production of Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges. A collaboration with 1927 Theatre Company, presented alongside Stravinsky's Petrushka as a double bill.

Ms. Edmonds returned to the Royal Opera House to sing the role of Varvara in Richard Jones' Olivier award-winning new production of Janácek's Katya Kabanova, joining Amanda Majeski and Pavel Cernoch under the baton of Edward Gardner.

Ms. Edmonds performed the role of Semira in the Australian Premiere of Hasse’s Artaserse. This production won Best Rediscovered Work at the International Opera Awards. The recording is commercially available, distributed on the Pinchgut Live label.

LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES

Ms. Edmonds performed the roles of Agathe/Dargelos in Les Enfants Terribles, the third in Philip Glass’s trilogy of works inspired by the writings of Jean Cocteau. This production of Glass’s 1996 dance opera, part of the global festivities celebrating Glass’s 80th birthday, was choreographed and directed by the acclaimed choreographer Javier De Frutos.

Ms. Edmonds was part of the small ensemble cast of women that brought this now internationally-acclaimed work to life for the first time. Composed by Philip Venables and directed by Ted Huffman, this opera is a setting of the astonishing final play by the radical British playwright Sarah Kane. Venables responded to the melody and rhythm innate to Kane’s writing to create an innovative and extremely powerful work of music theatre.

Ms. Edmonds appeared as the mezzo-soprano in the Australian premiere of Benjamin’s opera for two voices and orchestra, performed as part of the Sydney Festival. Renowned playwright Martin Crimp warps the Pied Piper legend into a dark political tragedy, as George Benjamin’s dangerously beautiful score for Into the Little Hill lures the audience into a maze of sound and story.

Ms. Edmonds performed the role of Kate Julian in Benjamin Britten's Owen Wingrave. Based on a Henry James ghost story, Owen Wingrave is a statement of Britten’s lifelong pacifism. Composed during the Vietnam War, it is the story of a young soldier from an eminent military family whose anti-war instincts lead him to rebel against his upbringing.
